Is atherosclerosis reversible? If so, what steps do I need to take to reverse it and minimize my risk for heart disease?
Recently, the Associated Press published an article in USA Today regarding the failure of quadruple bypass surgery to keep blood flowing to President Clinton’s heart. According to Clinton’s cardiologist, the former president was eating well, exercising and keeping his blood pressure and cholesterol in check. Despite this, the bypass re-occluded, necessitating the insertion of two stents to prop the vessel open.
The article quoted several cardiologists who stated that patients undergoing coronary bypass surgery, often have to return every 4-5 years for what they call tune ups. In other words, they come in to re-open occluded arteries. One cardiac surgeon bragged that he performed about 15 different stent procedures on the same patient.
These findings document the inability of conventional medicine to prevent and reverse atherosclerosis. Contrary to what mainstream cardiologists say, it’s possible to reverse the blockage of blood flow through the coronary arteries. This was demonstrated in a randomized controlled trial which was published in The Lancet in 1990.
