I am gradually becoming frailer. Is there anything that can be done nutritionally to both stop and possibly reverse the situation?
Frailty is a major concern for aging individuals. It is essentially a gradual deterioration in physical strength and overall performance.
The good news is that frailty is a preventable condition.
In recent years, the pace of clinical research on how to enhance physical strength and performance in the face of aging has accelerated. There is a specific set of evidence-based strategies aimed at the underlying biological mechanism by which we grow weaker over time. Due to lack of space, I am unable to provide the references. However, they will be provided upon request. Utilizing these strategies helps the person regain vitality, and command better memory. It is a multi-targeted approach to enhance stamina, energy, endurance and overall performance.
Avoiding and even possibly reversing the onset of decline in strength and performance may be
achieved simply via 5 main strategies:
• Replacement of basic nutrients essential for improving performance.
• Restoration of hormones that underlie performance. This is a key for maintaining strength as you age. There are specific nutrients that require no prescription and yet yield hormones the human body recognizes as bio identical.
• Enhancing physical capacity-Targeted interventions can reverse muscle loss and improve performance as a result.
• Energy boosting through non-hormonal means. There are specific whole food supplements that increase energy.
• Enhancing sleep to boost day time physical effectiveness.
If you are willing to take the plunge, I recommend that you find a chiropractor who is also trained in Nutrition Response Testing and begin your journey to better health.
